Bouldering in the Peak District
Even complete novices will quickly be climbing sheltered Peak District crags on this weekend program. Participants will become proficient in tying in, safety techniques and a range of methods of ascent, plus abseiling down. Limited to six learners to each tutor, there is significant one-on-one guidance and custom goals. The training is open to anyone aged 13 and over, from absolute beginners to those with limited gym climbing background. It is day-only option, but there is a range of recommended, budget-friendly accommodation close by, featuring campsites, hostels, bed and breakfasts and pubs with rooms. The training centre is a brief walk from Bamford railway station, which is on the rail route from Manchester to Sheffield.

Abstract Painting in Spain
Moclín, a ancient white village in Andalucía, about 45 minutes’ drive from Granada, is the breathtaking location for this creative getaway. Painters of every skill level – even beginners – will discover how to plan and create abstract artworks. A portion of the time will be spent in the open air, working on structured activities en plein air. These initial charcoal drawings and paintings will then be worked on in the studio, with participants creating a number of abstract landscapes in acrylics to be shown in the village. The group has exclusive access of the venue, which is centered on an central patio and has a sun terrace with views over the countryside. The cost covers five days’ art instruction; all meals; and an excursion to the nearby fortress and additional local sights.

Vegetarian Culinary in Portugal
This sun-drenched cooking retreat, located at a villa by the river in the central Portuguese region, is inspired by the plant-based cuisine of celebrated cooks. Attendees will master the art of selection of small dishes, take part in a hands-on falafel session, perfect brunch dishes such as shakshuka, and make substantial main courses like spicy mushroom ragu and moussaka. There are trips to the village market and a local vineyard to sample Portuguese wines, plus free time for walks by the nearby river, to relax on the terrace or swim in the pool. Street Dance in Buckinghamshire
This energetic camp is an uplifting, inclusive weekend adults’ street dance camp in High Wycombe. The daily schedule each day is a high-energy warm-up session, then three hour-and-a-half classes covering various urban dance forms, then an 60-minute freestyle session to show off new moves. Participants are split into levels based on ability and experience, so it is perfect for those who are brand new to street dance, all the way to experienced performers or instructors. This event doesn’t include accommodation but there are several places to stay within walking distance, and it is under an hour by rail into central London.

Maritime Singing Break in St Ives
This coastal town is the perfect location for a maritime music retreat. Participants will be taught traditional shanties from a experienced musician, and have a go at writing their own. The schedule includes vocal warmups, breathing exercises, stagecraft advice and a closing performance. The retreat is based at a country house with views of the bay. All meals are included, such as a Cornish cream tea on arrival, breakfast options, packed lunches and evening meals. Traditional rum, alas, is not provided. Writer and lecturer an experienced instructor leads the regular sessions on this writing retreat. He explores everything from story structure, character development, setting and suspense, to sending manuscripts to agents.
