American-Palestinian Youth Freed Following Nine-Month Period in Israel's Detention

A Palestinian-American youth who spent a nine-month period in Israel's custody absent formal charges was released.

Mohammed Ibrahim had just turned 15 during his detention this past winter within the occupied West Bank, during a family visit while residing in Florida accused of stone-throwing toward Israeli settlers, allegations he repeatedly contested.

The US state department expressed satisfaction with Mohammed's liberation.

Mohammed, now 16, was taken to hospital upon gaining freedom, according to close relatives.

According to them, he appears showing signs of malnutrition, and experiencing medical problems contracted in captivity.

In a statement, Mohammed's uncle conveyed their "tremendous relief".

Family member Zeyad Kadur described how relatives endured "surviving a terrible, unending nightmare" during the entire detention period.

"At this moment, we're concentrating on getting Mohammed the immediate medical attention necessary for his recovery following exposure to Israel's abuse and cruel circumstances for months."

US officials announced ongoing to provide consular support to the teenager's relatives.

Several congressional representatives endorsed a document to US authorities and the White House, urging greater action to secure his release.

Mohammed's parent, with four children operating an ice cream shop based in Tampa, previously claimed his son only confessed to throwing stones because the soldiers beat him.

There were no visits or spoken to Mohammed following the detention, learning information solely what had happened to him via legal paperwork.

The teenager remained lacking indictment in Ofer prison in the West Bank.

The facility also contains grown detainees, some of whom have been convicted regarding severe security violations including killings.
