'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Ethan Galbraith renews battle with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he reminisces about the thrilling dying seconds of Swansea's epic comeback triumph against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. That match culminated with Galbraith picking up a supporter's spectacles after the on-field celebration.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a long-range shot from outside the box, and the defender quickly converted the loose ball before racing off toward the crowd to celebrate, with the crowd swarming the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

This capped an incredible recovery given the Welsh side had been behind 2-0 midway through the second half. Amid the euphoria, there was some unintended consequences. Galbraith explained, "There was a supporter sort of calling out and we were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're individuals, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

That win earned a next round fixture at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith pushed hard at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with the London side in February. He had a prime vantage point when the underdogs took the lead in remarkable manner, with a teammate's long-range effort from about 45 yards going in via the woodwork and the opposition keeper. It seems unfair that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've given it to him for taking the effort on from that distance," commented Galbraith, who started in midfield before shifting to right flank after Orient changed formation. That meant facing off against the England international, with whom he traded tops, and the winger was among the opposition who paid tribute to the way the underdogs attacked the game.

Guardiola's System

"Physically they are outstanding but even the basics and routine actions, they can just perform consistently," he explains. "It seems as if they always find their target and they are adept at manage and slow down a game. You can feel you're holding your own and then suddenly they will just fizz a pass past your midfield without you even spotting it. You have to be focused at all times of the game. It demands a resilient mindset and attention just to keep pace."

Welsh Transition

The Welsh side were keen on Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to secure him in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He became a favorite as a crowd pleaser across two seasons at his former club and has swiftly replicated that in his new home. At Orient he joined forces once more with the coach, who four years ago gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in senior football on loan at his loan club from Manchester United. Then came a temporary move at lower division the Manchester club, before he moved on from Manchester United.

Learning Curve

"I was likely a bit naive going into men's football. I think numerous professionals would say development squad matches is entirely separate. Sometimes it seems possession is exchanged without much intensity. You see few tackles or duels. Once you start playing men's games you have to adapt rapidly."

National Team Success

He has shown that growth for both domestically and internationally, performing well for Northern Ireland, who remain in contention for the global tournament next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has featured in the last several matches, including home and away games against the German national team. The ex-coach, Galbraith's former international manager, offered the ultimate compliment, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he controls possession and his ability to spot a decisive through ball.

Starting Out

It has been an incredible journey for the youngster from the Queens Park estate in the Belfast suburb, just outside the capital, who grew up watching his dad, Stuart, also a midfielder, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Red Devils Debut

Galbraith's single match for United came in the away trip in 2019, a European competition trip to the Kazakh capital, where they featured on an artificial pitch and the arena covering was sealed owing to the weather of freezing cold. "It was a long trip and it was cold out there," he comments, grinning. "The preceding week, several youth players and I worked out jointly, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to accompany the senior squad and earn some playing time at the end was amazing."

Departing Old Trafford

What was the challenge was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he joined from Linfield aged his mid-teens? "It was fairly simple, because I arrived at the moment where I realized I wasn't going to make it at the senior squad. I'm very appreciative for the years at the club but it got to the point where I believed I needed to go my own route, move to a lower level and play first-team games. Now I'm gradually progressing again."

Welsh Adaptation

This occurs during the middle of the day at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has a commitment at the early evening: a driving theory test, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Before his recent move to his new neighborhood, the 24-year-old was a frequent passenger in Swansea's dubbed player transport, a minibus driven by club employees, the drivers, which transports players to and from practice and games.

"My companions include Gonçalo Franco, Ronald, Malick Yalcouyé – Melker Widell used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's nice to spend time with the teammates but I'm planning to be the next one to stop using the bus and behind the wheel. The Portuguese player likes to pull a few pranks; he's always up to all sorts."

Public Engagement

During his time at Orient, Galbraith would blend in with fans on the Tube after beginning his trip at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
