The Latest Casual Playlist Ignites Intense Discussions Regarding Bots, Experience Points, and Wait Times

Recently, the game developers introduced a fresh game mode called Relaxed Breakthrough. To put it simply, this option mirrors the regular Breakthrough format but includes several key adjustments:

  • Every squad has only eight human participants, with the remaining filled by AI-controlled opponents.
  • Actions done by real players award full XP, while AI activities offer lower rewards.
  • Only two locations are available: Siege of Cairo and Empire State.
  • Features like Player tags, achievements, and stat tracking are disabled.

So essentially, the playlist delivers on its title: it offers a casual take of Breakthrough. On the surface, you might think there's nothing wrong, as it provides additional choices for gamers seeking different methods to have fun with the title. However, if video games have taught us anything, it's that you can't please everyone. In other words, a lot of Battlefield 6 players are upset.

Community Responses: Anger to Praise

"Gamers prefer real players. Don't repeat the errors of your rivals," states a response to the mode reveal. "Truly disappointing concept," comments another. Meanwhile, in community forums, a player remarks, "I have no idea where we are headed with this game," and another details everything they believe to be problematic in Battlefield 6: "Resolve glitches, address drone issues, correct rocket mechanics, adjust aiming after sprinting, fix awful hit registration. We do not require this AI-heavy playlist."

However, for every complaint, there are players explaining how much they're liking the new mode. "It's very fun to practice, real players prevent it from being a total farmfest but it's quite laid-back," reads one Reddit comment. "The community doesn't understand that there are players who have lives and can't play this game 24/7. Let them find a middle ground," states a different comment. A response on Twitter explains that as they're "a battledad with busy schedules, this is great for me," and another praises the mode for "avoiding intense competition."

Constructive Concerns and Player Input

Despite the support, there are constructive reasons to complain about the new mode. Some users have highlighted that it will make wait times more extended for other modes because of the sheer number of options in the game already. Similarly, some areas already encounter AI-filled matches in the existing playlists. It also seems a little backwards that the mode does not begin without a required amount of human gamers, despite it focuses mostly on combat against bots.

Finally, one of the biggest grievances is that a previous feature was promised to offer full XP, including AI matches, but that got canned when they tried to remove XP farming from the system. Thus this new playlist seems like the player base compromising in the middle, according to forum feedback. Another labels this mode as the developers "making a mistake so hard, I experienced so much fun in the initial release, why did they feel the need to adjust it?"

Looking Ahead: Adjustments Occur?

Should Battlefield Studios has demonstrated something to date with the latest installment, it's that they're paying attention and responding to feedback. Assignments being too difficult were adjusted very quickly, as did the required Redsec challenges. It is likely that, if their data indicates this recent mode isn't performing to their expectations, they won't be shy to make further modifications.
