The Porcine Pardon: Hog Named 6-7 Pardoned by Miami Dade County Mayor.

While perhaps not at the identical stature as granting clemency to festive fowl, but the Miami-Dade County mayor had her own Donald Trump moment this week by ritually sparing the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the core of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“This animal is guiltless. Clemency is justified for her. Her criminal record is spotless,” Levine Cava said in a speech with inescapable allusions to the sheer volume of pardons issued from the start of the onset of a current administration.

“Except perhaps for eating half a dozen apples per day,” Levine Cava continued. “May this pig enjoy a long and happy life free from concern.”

The gathering, simultaneously observing and challenging the area's customary feast of feasting on pork during the holidays, was established to emulate the yearly bird sparing at the White House.

The animal, provided by a Coral Gables firefighter, was christened after the current slang trend of young people shouting “six-seven” – inspired by a hip-hop line – often for no discernable reason. The trend became so pervasive that a major dictionary recently named “six-seven” its top term for the year.

A Peaceful Retirement

The pardoned swine is now scheduled to spend its days at a countryside refuge “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the ceremony's official statement.

“The annual pig pardon has become a cherished method to kick off the festive period,” said the event host, in a notably cheerful message.

“It embodies the character of Miami: vibrant, varied, and based in heritage that unite the community. Each year, we are delighted to mark culture and compassion in a way unique to Miami.”

Attendees enjoyed a meat-free selection of spinach fritters and cafecito as they marked the pig's pardon.
